jul 1, 1946 - Bizonia (later on Trizonia)

Description:

By 1947, many American and British politicians believed that a harsh treaty was imposed on the Germans during Potsdam. With the threat of communism, they argued that it made sense to attract the German population to the German and British side with the promise of economic prosperity and a better standard of living. Both Soviet and Western powers found that a divided Germany would be a better option for them. An independent west German state would most likely support Britain and the U.S. and a united Germany would easily fall under the influence of the Soviets. In July 1946, Britain and the U.S. merged their zones. France originally rejected the creation of a new German state, but by 1948, they had incorporated themselves into the developing Western German state. France voted to merge the three western occupation zones on conditions that the Saarland was financially merged with France and that the Ruhr area became subject to international control.
