Description:
The Potsdam Conference was the last meeting of the “Big Three” during WW2. The leaders present were President Harry S. Truman, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (and Clement Attlee who became prime minister during the conference) and Soviet premier Joseph Stalin. Military of administration was established, with the ACC ( allied control council). The Soviets wanted a unified Germany but it needed to be completely disarmed. Truman and other U.S officials suspicions of Stalin and the Soviets’ intentions. The Soviets’ already occupied most of Eastern Europe, and a strong Germany was the only obstacle in the way of Soviet domination of all of Europe. In the end, the Big Three agreed to divide Germany into four zones, one for each nation (Britain, France, Soviet Union, U.S.). The Berlin capital was also divided into four zones but Berlin itself remained in the Soviet zone.
