jun 18, 1812 - War of 1812 Begins

Description:

The War of 1812 saw the Americans attempting to drive the British from North America entirely, but between insufficient troops, ignoring the plan to take Quebec, and Napoleon's defeat allowing Britain to attack with full force, America was driven back.

The war marked a few major events for both colonists and Indigenous peoples. Along with an exaggerated depiction of Canadian Loyalists beating America, anti-American sentiment followed along with a large conservative boom and imaginations of a dangerous democracy.

For the Indigenous allies, the territories ceded to Americans continued to come as a complete betrayal by Britain. Britain no longer had need for Indigenous military allies, and in this move they forever altered relationships between Indigenous peoples and Imperial powers.
