jan 1, 1663 - Royal Government is
Established in New
France
Description:
The decision to create a mercantile society out of New France meant that a heavy emphasis was placed on agriculture and self-sufficient colonies, and as well led to the civil code of Countume de Paris, a large influence on the way New France would be structured in its society.
Though the fur trade continued to prosper in this society and mercantilism mostly a failed attempt, the Seigneurial system created a lasting impact on the social hierarchy of New France and the civil code still defined life for the colonies.
