New Providence becomes a bustling pirate den after the Spanish Fleet, As Benjamin Hornigold realizes there is no state presence there. Jennings also moves in. It makes a perfect cove, as it is close to major trade routes, has a natural harbour, can hold 100 ships, good supply of foot and water, good vantage points, and multiple ways in and out. 500 pirates settled there, including Blackbeard. The government of Virginia begins to complain to England that pirates have taken over their land around 1716.
