nov 29, 1900 - 1900-1950
Description:
Petticoats were abandoned for long, straight skirts. During WWI, women worked in shops, offices, and factories, so they needed practical clothing. In the 1920’s, the “flapper dress” became popular. It was straight, short, adorned with fringe or beads and worn with long beads. In the 1930’s, women became active in sports so wide leg trousers and shorts above the knee were worn.
