sep 4, 1701 BC - 18th century
Description:
Women fashion did not change for the upper class much; however, the hairstyle was a pompadour. This was inspired by Madame de Pompadour. Men wore a suit coat and no longer wore the powdered wig. French commoners rebelled against the extravagance of the wealthy and began wearing loose, flowing muslin dresses based on classical Greek garments. Women began to carry purses and hair was worn in soft ringlets.
