jan 13, 1559 - The Elizabethan Settlement

Description:

Cooperation w/Parliament in initiating a religious settlement - politique move. She repealed Mary's Catholic legislation and a new Act of Supremacy was made, where Elizabeth was the "supreme governor of this realm", intentionally not taking the title "supreme head of the Church on earth" to avoid conflicts with both Catholics and radical Protestants who believe in the Pope and Jesus Christ as the respective heads of the Church.

Act of Uniformity - uniformity in public services, and restored service of the Book of the Common Prayer w/revisions to make it acceptable to Catholics

Conservative Catholics and Puritans opposed Elizabeth's moderate settlement
