Description:

For the first time in Australia’s political history, in 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd delivered a formal speech which was in essence an apology to the mistreatment of Indigenous Australians—specifically their harm caused surrounding the stolen generations. The speech titled ‘Sorry’, was spoken to an audience of mixed cultures and ages. It expressed, for the first time, Australia’s government’s regret for what occurred during these tragic years and thus retains hefty significance in the progressive change in attitude held by the Australian Government.
