7h 16min, sep 13, 2007 y - The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is adopted.
Description:
In the late 2000’s, the UN adopted this declaration with the majority of the General Assembly in favour. The declaration entitles significantly more rights and freedoms to indigenous people across the global community. In many countries, this was the first piece of legislation which formally recognises the traditional landowners and for this reasons it has served a key role in the progressive movement toward equal rights for indigenous peoples.
