jan 1, 1927 - Recognized by the ICRC

Description:

Before 1927 the CRC was still technically an affiliate of the British Red Cross. In 1927 they were recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross. They officially became an independent Red Cross Society. This was made possible because the status of Canada was changed from a British Colony to an autonomous entity. This gave Canada the freedom to do things, such as create their own Red Cross Society.
