Description:
Parisian revolutionaries and mutinous troops invade the Bastille (royal fortress/prison) and attempt to tear down the structure by hand. On July 12th Royal authorities put 250 barrels of gunpowder in the Bastille. On July 14th a crowd of people armed with muskets, swords, and a variety of homemade weapons. Launay’s group of men were able to hold back the group of very angry people. Launay signaled that he surrendered by raising a white flag, Launay’s and his group of men were taken into custody, all of the Bastille's weapons were taken away, and the seven prisoners that were at the Bastille were freed.
