mar 22, 1765 - The Stamp Act

Description:

Another of the "Intolerable Acts", This mewasure was passed in order pay thew costs of stationing British Troops along the Appalachain brder region. The act allowed the taxation of every piece of printed paper. This would include such things as: Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, and even playing cards .
The cost of the measure was, in itself, small, however the colonists objected because they feared that a precedent was being set to tax them without consent far more heaviliy in the future.
