Description:
Lincoln was growing impatient with how little advancements had been made by his Union Army. To make sure McClellan finally undertook some military action, Lincoln issued his General War Order Number One on January 27, 1862, "calling for all United States naval and land forces to begin a general advance by February 22, George Washington's birthday." ("The U.S. Civil War 1861 - 1865).
