Description:
The Sack of Rome took place in Rome of 1527. It was a very important battle won by the holy roman emperor against the League of Cognac. After the they had won, the soldiers found out that they weren't going to get paid because of the lack of funds of the government. In retaliation, the soldiers all marched towards the papal capital because that seemed like the easiest target due to religious reasons. They basically raided the city. Afterwards the Holy Roman Emporer was thouroughly embarrassed.
