Description:

Union troops led by General Ulysses S. Grant attack Confederate troops outside the city of Vicksburg on May 19-22. However, the Confederate troops stand their ground and the Federal troops suffer heavy casualties. Grant changes his tactics and decides to besiege the city of Vicksburg. If the city falls, the whole of the Mississippi River will be controlled by the Union troops. The soldiers and civilians alike suffer from constant bombardment from Union troops.
