jan 1, 1863 - The Emancipation Proclamation
Description:
The emancipation proclamation goes into effect, proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free.". This was a political statement as the South would most likely lose France’s and England’s support. No country wants to support a group of people that still keep slaves.
