jul 2, 1572 - St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre
Description:
The St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre was a turning point in the French Wars of Religion. Many Huguenot leaders were brutally slaughtered in the streets of Paris by Catholic mobs, which weakened the Huguenot force in France overall. It fits in the IS theme because the religious landscape of France was slowly changing when more and more nobles became Huguenots, which resulted in religious tensions and even a full-on massacre.
