may 25, 1598 - Edict of Nantes
Description:
The Edict of Nantes was issued by King Henry IV, a former Huguenot, at the end of the War of the Three Henrys. It guaranteed religious and civil rights to the Huguenot minority of France, expressing a religious tolerance. The Edict of Nantes was enforced out of political necessity to prevent the country from disintegrating along religious lines, which is why it fits with the SP theme.
