mar 18, 1766 - The Declaratory Act

Description:

The Declaratory Act states that the British Parliaments taxing authority was the same in America as in Great Britain. After the opposition to The Stamp Act the British Parliament decided to repeal the tax. Some felt the repeal gave too much power to colonial governments. The Declaratory Act was passed to show parliament had power to pass any law over the colonies, including taxes. Colonists felt England was disrespecting their governments.
