dec 16, 1620 - The Pilgrims arrive at Plymouth harbor
After illegally breaking from the Church of England, these "Separatists" sought freedom for their religion in the New World. Originally hoping to join an established colony in Virginia, they were blown off course and landed on Cape Cod, Massachussetts. They sailed into the Bay and found a safer harbor to settle in, and named it Plymouth.
