jan 1, 217 BC - A chance to attack
Description:
After Hannibal's victory at Lake Trasimene Hannibal was presented with an opportunity to march on Rome being only 80 miles out from it but decided to withdraw after his victory.
I think Hannibal lacked the confidence to take Rome after already facing a battle and a loss in Rome could hurt his troops more.
A siege of Rome would win the war bringing a fall to the Roman empire and lessening their influence on civilization.
