dec 27, 1527 - Sack of Rome

Description:

The Sack of Rome was the attack of the Spanish King Charles V's troops against the Holy Roman Empire. This brought a temporary end to the Italian Wars, and thereafter, the Spanish dominated Italy and controlled it, bringing about the exertion of Spanish influence and power over the country. It wasn't an event that ultimately impacted for the long term because the effects were short-lived.
