jan 1, 1775 - American Revolution begins

Description:

In 1774, the year leading up to the war, the English Congress had been passing laws and placing taxes on Americans, but only as a way to get money for Great Britain. The Americans also wanted to be able to be represented in the British parliament and/or vote for the British members of Parliament. They also wanted to be independent of Great Britain and they didn’t want an island across the sea regulating the price of the sea. Because of this, they decided to do something. Though it originally began with merely harassing Britain and avoiding war due to the lack soldiers, it then became a war and with the help of the French and right-hand man Alexander Hamilton, they won the battle at Yorktown.
