After receiving rigorous training throughout the winter Washington's army proved itself in a long engagement with General Charles Cornwallis's army by standing and fighting to a standstill, Darkness ended the fight, with the British escaping unnoticed in the night. Due to the very high temperaters it is said that heat stroke claimed more lives than guns during the battle
