In between 2005 and 2010 the total of countries generating electricity from geothermal resources rose to 24 and many countries, including: Germany, Australia and New Zealand increased the capacity of their power plants and the total worldwide capacity rose to 10 898 Mega Watts. This is an important event because it proves that geothermal power is progressing and improving, becoming both affordable and effective enough that so many countries would invest in it.<image: Krafla Geothermal Power Plant>
