This is when the space race stared against the Soviet Union and the U.S. It was a cold war which means instead of fighting they showed off to see which was the better country. The U.S was behind by a lot but then they landed the first man on the moon. The first person on the moon was Neil Armstrong and said something very famous. He said "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind. The Soviet Union didn't know how to beat the first man ever on the moon so the U.S had beaten the Soviet Union in the space race.Added to timeline:
