jan 1, 1807 - Clermont Steamboat
Description:
The Clermont steamboat was built in 1807 and was the first steamboat used for public service. On its first voyage in August 17, it went 5 miles per hour. It travelled from Albany to New York. All great inventions start somewhere, and this steamboat may have started the evolution of pulic ocean/water travel for the Americans. This may have inspired others to build boats and eventually travel west
