On August 1784, Benjamin Franklin proposed the idea of bifocals which helped people with impaired vision to see far better. This invention not only benefited the public at the time, but himself as well since he suffered presbyopia, which was the medical term used to describe the condition in which people could not see as well as others and suffered from poor vision. This invention was well implemented as it is still used to improve poor vision and has evolved to be produced far more efficiently.Added to timeline:
