The Cape Town Peace March occurred in South Africa to support peace and the end of apartheid. The march was led by many religious leaders. The march was held in defiance of the State of Emergency which banned political protests and apartheid laws which enforced racial segregation. The police were not present during the entire protest making it very peaceful. The aftermath resulted in the police refusing to enforce the ban against such gatherings under State of Emergencies.
