The Battle of Michigan Avenue occurred in Chicago when the growing opposition to the war in Vietnam came to head inside and outside of Chicago. They rioters wanted to stop the spread of communism no matter the cost. Protests were planned out and had many supporters. Lots of violence occurred because the protesters did nothing but break laws and the police had to take action.
