feb 27, 1527 - Sack of Rome

Description:

The major issue that led to this event was the conflict between the Papacy and the Empires of Charles V and Clement VII, there was also an argument about the fact that ideological reason was the split of the Church aka the Protestant Reformation. Forces of Roman Emperor Charles V (States and other institutions of power) attacked Rome in brutal and vile ways, they terrorized, massacred, and humiliated the population. The soldiers weren't under the command of the emperor, they rebelled because they were enraged about the fact that they weren't getting paid nor were they receiving enough food, this falls under the AP Theme of states and other institutions of power because the emperor was abusing his power in a corrupt manner.
