Description:
An English scientist, Thomson discovered electrons via cathode rays (glowing beams of light which follow an electrical discharge in a high-vacuum tube). This discovery was the first hint that atoms are made of smaller particles and that atoms are divisible, proving Dalton wrong. Thomson's model states that atoms are made of positively and negatively charged particles and that these particles were spread out within an atom.
