The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution of the United States. The Articles of Confederation weren't exactly what the Americans thought they needed, it soon became clear that this need to be replaced. This needed to be replaced because there was a need for a stronger government, and they soon eradicated these articles on March 1, 1781.
