jun 13, 1896 - Plessy vs Ferguson

Description:

This case was a negative event in the lives of African Americans as it pronounced that racial segregation should not be deemed unconstitutional. This case was created after an african american man named Plessy refused to sit in the section for blacks. Because of this, jim crow laws and segregation laws became common. Growing up as a black boy during this time, Walter Branch and his family would have been subject to these laws.
