oct 4, 1917 - 18th Amendment

Description:

The prohibition of 1917 prevented the production, consumption, and sale of alcoholic beverages until 1933 when it was repealed. Although this was done to reduce crime, it did not help as people began to smuggle booze and illegally sell it in private bars. It was repealed when the public expression became very clearly negative and cultural rebellions arose.
