Yazid ruled for a short time, but during that time he challenged Ali son. Hussein, Ali son, was traveling with his family and entourage toward Iraqi city of kufa, Yazid's troops stopped the travelers and demanded that Hussein take an oath of loyalty to Yazid and the Umayyad dynasty. Hussein refused so Yazid ordered his troops to attack and killed women, children, and Hussein, to this day it is still mourned.Added to timeline:
