The invention of the printing press in Europe (by Johannes Gutenberg) was revolutionary, especially during the Protestant Reformation. Great Reformation leaders like Martin Luther were able to dispense their ideas all across the continent with little trouble due to the convenience of the press, and people were able to get information cheaper and faster, and could make beliefs for themselves.
