Kenyans were sent to fight and die for Great Britain in World War 2. Once they returned, they reasoned that since they can fight and die for Britain during the war, then they could be able to have their own land and vote. Many Kenyans protested, and by the 1950's the protests turned violent. Finally, they gained their independence in 1963.Added to timeline:
