apr 2, 1598 - Edict of Nantes
Description:
The Edict of Nantes was the French royal decree (signed by King Henry VI) that declared that granted freedom of worship and legal equality for French Calvinists (Huguenots). This ended the French Wars of Religion, and put a temporary end to the violence that had broken out between Roman Catholics and Protestants, which ultimately helped to highlight the peace between European counties and the tolerance granted.
