During Juan Manuel Santos' goverment, the FARC changed the meaning of its acronym and joined as a political party. It went from being the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) and by the 2017 became the Communist Party of the FARC (Revolutionary Alternative Force of the Common) (FARC-EP, 2018).
