Description:

On the 28th of July, 1930, the 17th Canadian Federal Election took place. Richard Bedford Bennett, leading the Liberal-Conservative party won with 135 seats. He defeated William Lyon Mackenzie King, leader of the Liberal party, who had 89 seats. Richard Bennett made an aggressive approach to stop the Great Depression. Mackenzie ignored the Great Depression and that was what led to them not winning the 1930 election. This election was what helped stop the Great Depression in Canada.
