Description:
The tea act was put into place to bail the British east India company out of debt. The act lowered the tax on tea required for the colonists to buy tea from the shipped by the east India company. People tried to crack down on smuggling tea. Colonists felt the tea gave the east Indians company a monopoly on tea. The response by the colonists was to boycott and even destroy large portions of the british tea.
