jun 9, 1772 - The Gaspee Incident/Affair

Description:

The Sons of liberty were active throughout the colonies and the British officers charged with enforcing the customs laws and the Stamp Act were becoming aggressive. during June 9th 1772 there was a dramatic event to demonstrate the severity of the crisis. lieutenant William Duddington , on her Majesty's ship Gaspee, was charged with with patrolling on water without a ships's papers and they told her to get the papers for her ship and if she doesn't they will shoot her. She went on the water again without the papers then they shot her down with the ship. The colonists were mad at the British for shooting her down.
