The Mayflower compact was the first governing document of Plymouth Colony. It was written by the male passengers of the Mayflower, it consisted of separatists Puritans, adventurers, and tradesmen. This resulted in the Puritans fleeing from the religious persecution by King James.

-As a result of the mayflower compact, we started with a democratic society. Due to this democratic foundation, the people's voice would dbe an important part of our future government.
