sep 5, 1774 - Intolerable Act

Description:

It was under these tense circumstances that the First Continental Congress convened in Philadelphia on September 5, 1774. In response to the closing of the Port of Boston and the passage of the other Intolerable Acts by Parliament, colonists voiced their opposition on a local level.
-They closed Boston Harbor.
-Took away Mass. self govern (basically they sent over British officials to take over Mass. Government and to make decision).
-Quartering Act: this is where you had no choice, if the British had a garrison of troops then they needed to quarter in your house, you had to let them in and let them live in your house and supply food and water for them.
-This began the first Continental Congress.
