may 10, 1773 - Tea Act Passed By Parliament
Description:
The Tea Act was passed by parliament and gave the British East India Company control over the American tea trade. The tea arrived only in the trade company's ships sold by merchants so the colonists who were not paying tax on smuggled tea now have to pay the tax on regulated tea. This act and the events caused by them greatly enraged merchants and colonial shippers.
