jan 1, 1765 - The Stamp Act

Description:

The British started taxing objects that were taken on public transport, such as trains. Among these objects are glass, paper, and legal documents. Much like the Townshend Act, the Stamp Act affected America in a very similar way. The Stamp Act served to anger the Americans (which caused the Stamp Act Congress, which served to bring America together. Community also often fuels the flames, so this may have actually made the American's even angrier) - specifically, the lawyers and businessmen, which caused the violence of the Boston Massacre and the pettiness of the Boston Tea Party. In addition, this helped to anger the Americans enough that when the other acts were added, the American's decided to rebel against Britain. This act also showed the British that they could get away with taxation, which may have played a part in the creation of the next act.
