dec 31, 1909 - The 1870 Naturalization Act is expanded to apply to other Asians. Angel Island Detention Center opens. The Center, located off California, examines potential Asian immigrants. Many of them are Chinese immigrants. The Chinese American population represents 94,414 out of a total U.S. population of 92.2 million.
