nov 1, 1533 - Pizarro Conquers the Incan Empire

Description:

Francisco Pizarro was a Spanish soldier and explorer who served on many expeditions to Hispanola. The majority of voyages at the time were in search of natural resources and gold, but Pizarro desired to lead an expedition of conquest. He sailed down to Peru and made contact with the reigning Incan empire. After many battles and conflicts, Pizarro and his army of Spanish Conquistadores captured the capital city of Cuzco and effectively ended the Incan empire. The execution of Atahuallpa, the last free reigning emperor of the Incas, after the capture of Cuzco, marked the true end of 300 years of Incan civilization.
